Raj Shah

Managing Director, Blue Wealth Capital

Drawing on a successful career in the financial services sector spanning more than twenty years, experienced financial planner Raj Shah is recognised as one of the UK’s best known lifestyle financial planning specialists.

Raj founded Blue Wealth Capital in 2009, using his previous experiences as a stockbroker and private banker to develop a truly unique service which is built around helping his clients to identify, achieve and maintain their desired lifestyles (for life) without fear of running out of money.

Named as one of Yorkshire’s 42 brightest and most promising business owners by Yorkshire Business Insider, Raj been shortlisted for a number of notable awards within the financial services sector including Financial Planner of the Year 2016, Investment Adviser of the Year 2016 and Excellence in Professional Services 2016.

Throughout his career, Raj has acted as a commentator on many issues facing the financial planning sector, frequently contributing to the national and regional media including the Financial Times, Channel 4 News, The Sunday Times, Money Observer, and The Independent. Raj also acts as a regular guest advisor on BBC Radio Sheffield. Raj is a keen advocate of raising awareness of financial literacy, particularly within young people and he is committed to helping others manage money responsibly. In 2018 Raj was appointed as a trustee to Sheffield-based charity Endeavour where he actively supports some of the city’s most disadvantaged and disaffected young people, frequently teaching budgeting skills as well as avoiding the trappings of a life of debt – something which earned him an invitation to Buckingham Palace.

During his free time, Raj enjoys travelling, fine wines and high intensity interval training. As a long-suffering Hull City fan, Raj is also a keen supporter of grass roots football, including his local Sunday league side Crosspool Juniors; a team which Blue Wealth Capital has proudly sponsored for several years.

Born of Indian-Kenyan descent, Raj speaks five languages. He left his native home town of Hull in 1994 to study business in Sheffield and after graduation, Raj decided to forge a life for himself in the steel city. He lives in Crosspool with his wife Fiona, a legal professional, and their two young sons, Oliver and Alexander.
